Living life at the perfect pace
For me, the festive season has always been more than just a time to embrace my nearest and dearest. It’s also the perfect opportunity to catch up with friends scattered across Italy, indulging in long chats over bubbly and sweet treats. With politics and religion strictly off the table, our conversations tend to drift from reliving old stories to sharing how we each tackle life’s ups and downs, balancing work, family, hobbies and, occasionally, a little exhaustion…
It’s fascinating to me how everyone seems to have their own “rhythm of life”. Some swear by strict schedules to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Others ease their way into new situations, be it festivities, relationships, careers or hobbies, needing time to adapt. Then there are those who fantasise about retreating into near-hermit-like stillness. And let’s not forget the perpetual rushers, darting through life for fear of missing something – a green light, a spot at the express checkout, or the last freshly baked croissant at the café…
As for me, I don’t fit into either extreme, neither counting down the days to the next holiday nor being unable to switch off from the daily grind. Luckily (or maybe it’s experience talking), I’ve learned to embrace the pace that each moment demands and live life at the right “rhythm”.
This is coming from someone who has always designed shoes as a celebration of comfort, letting you walk through any situation with confidence and poise. But, here’s my suggestion for the year ahead: don’t take this as a license to race through life mindlessly. Slow down now and then, and even stop once in a while. Look around, look up. Wherever you are, there’s more sky above you than what’s reflected in the puddles. Don’t forget that!
