Anachronisms...
It’s funny how, in a world that’s constantly racing towards the latest innovations, we still cling to things and situations with a bit of an old-school vibe.
We’re surrounded by cutting-edge tech and gadgets that mean we can buy things without cash. Paper maps have been made obsolete by sat-navs equipped with voice recognition. And soon enough, keys will be replaced by retinal scanners – like something from a spy film! Yet we still collect stamps on our loyalty cards for our favourite supermarket. We use online guides to discover where to try the latest culinary trends, but we’ll always go back to our comfort food – food that rekindles memories of home. We travel across continents on increasingly exotic holidays, but we’re still drawn back to the rustic villages where we went on holidays as children, where running water is scarce, and the only thing to do is soak up the views and listen to the stories of the few remaining locals.
Fashion isn’t so different: we love the latest trends, but we can’t give up the staples that define our personal style.
I notice it myself when I think about which models to include in a new Collection. We always focus on designs that are versatile, comfy and make a statement, but we don’t want to give up that touch of romanticism – a little bohemian flair.
We’re always on the hunt for something new, but we hold onto the idea that what we love should last a lifetime.
It’s like when we take a different route on our usual daily walk. We’re amazed at how a simple detour can reveal something completely new, but we still miss the comfort of what’s familiar and safe.
Maybe the trick is to strike the perfect balance that lets us enjoy every moment – to appreciate the unusual without giving up the chance to return to what we know… our most comfortable pair of shoes!
Looking forward to more walks and new discoveries with you!
