Redefining your “day off”

We have just passed 1st May, which brings with it a workers’ holiday in many countries. And I couldn’t pass up the chance to reflect on how the way we experience all the public holidays on the calendar has changed. While they used to be a time for a much-awaited and deserved break from the weekday grind, now we tend to fill them with activities, perhaps influenced somewhat by the hyperactivity of modern life. Instead of staying cooped up in our homes, we now choose to venture out and enjoy new experiences.
We seem to have developed a new zeal for life and a different understanding of rest, which is not just physical, but also mental and psychological. This means we don’t need to be in our slippers on the couch to feel immersed in our comfort zone; we crave unique experiences to enjoy on our own or share with friends and family. It’s not about simply “filling” our time, but rather about seizing every opportunity to make good memories and feel that bit happier and more satisfied when it’s time to return to the daily hustle.
And do you know what I think is the best thing? The fact that we can mark at least one rest day on the calendar each week… So, starting today, you’ve got six days ahead to dream up and plan your next little Sunday getaway!
In the meantime, now that you’re here, you can grab another opportunity here and now: the mid-season discounts on my website! And after that, head out there and have some fun! See you next Sunday!
