A simple “click”

Apologies for the misleading title of this newsletter, but a computer mouse isn’t actually involved at all. In my life, the concept of a “click” is related to something that at a certain point “snaps” inside me, giving me the push I need to make choices that, with a cool head, I might not have the guts to make. This can happen to anyone in a whole host of different situations: heading off on a backpacking adventure, dropping everything to switch career paths, or daring to launch a new project that goes against the opinions of the “experts” and current trends, boldly claiming a unique style in full knowledge that it could either be a massive hit or a total flop.
I’m certainly no stranger to this: after studying, evaluating and gathering all the necessary information, in the end it all boils down to a series of “clicks” that allow me to take the leap and dive into something new. Sure, it’s always wise to think through your decisions and make sure you’ve got a safety net, but in the end, the choice is driven by instinct.
Among my latest “follies” that has followed this path is the launch of the MRC57 Collection dedicated to sneakers in the middle of winter. A gamble? You bet! But it’s also an experiment, driven by listening to the implicit desires and demands of consumers. Because in the end, it all comes down to this: understanding your target market and interpreting expectations, while also daring to throw in something unexpected to assert your free will. The same goes for marketing as it does for relationships, for work as for family: at a certain point, you have to break out of your shell and express your point of view, take a stand, and forge your own path.
Listening to our inner “clicks” is what truly enables us to be free and to build our identity. Scary, right? You bet! But if you follow your “sixth sense”, you’ll never go too far wrong. And if you do mess up, just remember that mistakes are always a valuable learning experience!
Don’t be afraid to listen to yourselves! I try to listen to you every day by reading what you write to me… and what I hear enriches me more and more with every passing day!
