Every surprise is an opportunity

"Life was like a box of chocolates.

One of the best ways to understand someone’s personality is simply by observing how they react to life’s inevitable curveballs. From planning daily commutes to organising big trips, from managing the weekly shop to picking the perfect restaurant, from scheduling work tasks to structuring free time – everyone handles the unexpected in their own way.  

Some people like to be prepared for any eventuality, anticipating every possible scenario and meticulously working out all variables and solutions. These are the ones who always leave early for appointments (just in case of traffic), never forget their shopping list, check restaurant menus online before booking, and never step out of the house without a survival kit (umbrella, wet wipes, multi-tool, emergency sewing kit, spare tights… you name it!)

Then there are those who prefer to go with the flow, refusing to stress over the unpredictable and never assuming the worst. They tackle life with a “lighter” touch, relying on their own resourcefulness to handle whatever comes their way.  

As for me, I’ve always been pretty flexible, someone who adapts to whatever life throws at them. I treat every unexpected twist as an opportunity to find new ways to feel comfortable. And the same goes for when I design my collections; I like to think I’m in tune with the universe, creating pieces that bring a sense of reassurance, helping people feel good no matter what’s happening around them.  

That’s exactly why I took the bold step of reinventing traditionally springtime shoes for winter. I wanted to inject a bit of colour and light into every day, no matter how grey or uninspiring it might seem. Because if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that beauty is always there… you just need to know how to see it. Or better yet, be willing to go looking for it.
