Delegating is enriching!
Ever noticed how we all have some degree of a control freak inside us? We love to be the boss of our destiny, calling the shots on our daily lives, and being the architects of our style. That’s why we freak out at the dentist or would never dare to say “Surprise me!” at the hairdresser’s. It’s why we dissect the menu at restaurants and quiz the waiter like it’s the Spanish Inquisition, and why we rely on filters to fix those (real or imaginary) flaws in our selfies.
But for those of us running a business, having a trusted team to lean on is a must – it’s how we keep the dream alive and thriving. Thus, the project stops being “mine” and becomes “ours”.
The secret? Ditch the spotlight and tune into the desires, needs and feelings of those who are the recipients of your ideas. Every day, my team and I ponder over “What’s going to be the big hit this year?” “What do our fabulous clients want in the next Collection?” “How do we capture the essence of femininity in 2024?” This is how delegating becomes synonymous with listening. It’s a tool to free oneself from the weight of deciding alone, and it allows others to express themselves. It’s not about shirking responsibility; it’s about listening, learning and letting others shine. It’s an opportunity to grow richer from their spontaneous and genuine input. I believe this approach is a daily dose of enrichment; for my loyal followers, it’s knowing they can express themselves and the joy of finding pieces that resonate with their true selves.
